SUE BROOKS. Sue’s involvement with the aspects of physical movement and mental well-being started at a young age with participation in dance and martial arts and evolved over time into aerobics and professional ballroom dance instructor. Her migration to yoga was a natural one where she immediately connected to the Anusara principals of "Opening to Grace". Beginning her yoga practice with Vicki Beilharz in 2004, she quickly immersed herself into a schedule of attending Anusara classes over 4 times a week and maintains that practice with strict discipline. In her classes, Sue's uplifting attitude helps people develop their flexibility, strengthen their endurance and most of all connect to their inner beauty. Her plans in the future include studying for her Anusara Certification. |

VENKATA K. PONNANGANI, Ph.D. was a Professor of Psychology and Director of the Institute for Yoga & Consciousness of the Andhra University in South India until he immigrated to the US in May 2006 to join his children. By virtue of his training, his approach to yoga has been secular and psychological. He believes that yoga is a self-regulation strategy, which deals with body, mind and behavior in a synergistic way. The way of life/values and the set of practices prescribed by yoga for the regulation of the body-mind complex are universal in scope and nature, whether or not one subcribes to its world views. He acknowledges that yoga opened a new vista in his life by providing a means to approach, and to come to terms with the complexities of the mind-body processes on the one hand, and living in the world of the other, through the cultivation of awareness, control and acceptance. He believes that meditation enabled him to progressively develop an attitude of witness to life. |

AMPARO RODRIGUEZ, E-RYT. A yoga practitioner for almost 20 years, Amparo is certified at a professional level by the Omega Institute of Rhinebeck, NY and by the Nosara Yoga Institute of Costa Rica. Her experience as a professional classical ballet dancer gave her, since very early in life, ample awareness about the science of body movement. During her dancing career, Amparo trained in the Pilates method with Lolita San Miguel, one of the only two people alive today who trained with Joseph Pilates himself. For Amparo, teaching Yoga Urbana in the United States, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Switzerland and Japan has been an exciting opportunity to experience how other cultures around the world are approaching the practice of yoga. She is registered with the Yoga Alliance as an Experienced Yoga Teacher, with more than 2,000 hours of experience teaching yoga. |

KIM UDELL began her practice of yoga 3 years ago attending classes at Woodlands Yoga. In October of 2007, Kim received her certification in Hatha yoga from the Yoga Institute of Houston. Under the guidance of Vicki Beilherz, Kim’s yoga teaching style is Anusara Inspired. She is presently completing the application for RYT at the 200 hour level. Though her initial interest in yoga was to attain greater strength, fitness and flexibility, she quickly discovered that yoga which focuses only on the body is not a complete package. Kim is passionate that the body, mind, spirit connection and the Anusara principle of opening to grace is what makes Anusara Yoga so rewarding to practice and to teach. Kim resides in The Woodlands with her husband, Bob and children, Kayla and Alec. Outside of her yoga practice, Kim is an active volunteer within the community as a member of the steering committee of the United Way’s Women’s Leadership Council. She also enjoys participation in her children’s school and church related organizations. |
